Terms of Service
Last updated September 2026.
By using hurricanehistory.co (“the site”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Use of the site
Hurricane History is provided as a free historical reference for personal, non-commercial use. You may browse, link to, and share pages. You may not scrape the site at scale, republish it wholesale, or use it in a way that disrupts the service for others.
Not a forecast, and not advice
Every figure on this site describes storms that have already occurred, computed from NOAA HURDAT2 best-track data. Nothing on this site is a forecast, a prediction, or safety, evacuation, or insurance advice. Historical return-interval figures are plain averages of past occurrences, not a probability of a future storm. For any current storm threat, consult the National Hurricane Center and your local emergency management authority — not this site.
Accuracy
We work to keep the historical record accurate, but the underlying storm-track and place- coordinate data can itself be incomplete, especially for storms before the mid-20th century. The site is provided “as is,” without warranty. If you spot an error, please tell us at hello@hurricanehistory.co.
Third-party content and links
Storm data is drawn from public federal sources, principally NOAA HURDAT2 and U.S. Census Bureau Gazetteer files (both public domain). The site shows third-party advertising whose content and practices we do not control.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hurricane History and Purcell Analytics are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version. See also our Privacy Policy.
